This is a book that I found that really captures the truth..... Here in my heart.First Ms. DeStefano has captured the essence of my life growing up, except I never lived in a foster home. I am (SueAnn) pretty much like Dru Hampton. Grew up in a small town and got involved in as much as I could and everything I can. Dru, grew up in a small town, got into the same way. She was involved in a group called " Rad Kids" a police department program for foster kids. It taught them how to empower themselves in a bad situation and get them on their feet. She felt like she had to struggle to survive, but she was wrong, she already had survived and fit in.
Then there's Brad, ( like my own Tom)was a handsome young man growing up in the same small town and involved in the "Rad Kids" also.
He was a police officer, struggled to fit into the world somewhere also.
Brads Grandma was Vivian and was very sick.
She also had been Drus mentor as she grew up in a foster home. They all lived in Chandlerville, Ga. During the mentor time they both feel in love. Dru was managing a Restaurant and was putting in lots of time there and with the kids, Brad was busy with the police department and the same group of kids.
Before they new it they were really in love and Dru wasn't sure she was ready for a small town romance and wondered what that whole big world held for her.
Brad was pretty set in what his life was going to be like. With His Grandma being sick and having a good stable job, it was a good life for him.
Dru left for awhile and when she came back.... Guess what?!?!? Well I'm not going to spoil it for you but I do believe Anna has got another 5- star book on her hands. Better get one quick, they will be going fast, more will come !!! Bring out the Kleenex as you are going to need it !

I loved the book. I haven't read any of Anna books before but I can't wait to read more of them now.
The writing was superb and it was a story that was read quickly. Characters that were drawn together and fought to stay together.
A truly beautiful love story, one with a lot of give and take and trust between two people. Read you want regret.
The characters are so real because their attitudes and emotions are very well played.
I got touched by all of it.
I love the cover of this book. What a well written story by Anna DeStefano. It will keep you reading wondering what will happen next. Vivian is dying and in her will she has set conditions to try and bring her grandson Brad and her employee Dru back together. The book will make you laugh and cry. I loved every minute of it and I hated to see it end.
This is the first book I have read from this author and it did not hold my attention. The character Dru came across like a 13 year old. The only portion of the book that peeked my attention was when the drama of Lisa meeting the man at the bank who she thought was a young man her age. I would not purchase another book by this author. Sorry.
Here in My Heart is a wonderful way to kick off a new series. Second chance love stories are some of my favorites and I couldn't help getting caught up in Dru and Brad's story.
Vivian, Dru's boss and Brad's grandmother, has them working and living together. With the childhood sweethearts having to live and work together, there is little chance they can resist their feelings for each other.
With Here in My Heart, we get an emotion packed story filled with real life issues and relatable characters. Another winner for Anna DeStefano that has me ready for the next in the series.
